NEAT = Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis, the energy expended for everything we do that is not sleeping, eating or sports-like exercise. Examples are things like: taking leisure walks or walking to work, typing, dancing with your kids, performing yard work or chores around the house, and even fidgeting.
Physical progress = how clothes are fitting, measurements, scale weight, Non Scale Victories (NSV) = habit and mindset shifts
